Albert Boxler Pinot Gris 2009

"It's one of my favorite entry-level wines from any producer. This Pinot Gris is essentially very young vines from both his Grand Cru vineyards located Sommerberg and Brand and I cannot possibly express how well this wine has aged. A very youthful and mature yellow straw to the eyes with notes of pears, yellow plums and minerals on the nose. It has very good richness and depth showing its underlying spine of acidity while being dressed in flavors of yellow fruit, apples, pears, umami and subtle notes of spice with a noted amount of residual sugar (that flattens out with some time in the glass) to finish on its silky texture. I can drink this wine all day on its own, but if you love Thai, Schezuan and Vietnamese cuisine, start backing up the truck." Mike Martin
