Francois Gaunoux Pommard 'les Rugiens' 1er Cru 2005

The rugiens is sloping on a rocky subsoil and it's exposition is one of the best, south and southeast. The subsoil is a mix of marl and limestone and the iron elements of the soil contributes to the color of the wine. There is always lots of sun in this area helping to ripen the grapes. The wine is robust with notes of flowers and herbs. It's usually on the tannic side and needs to age before it's at it's best.
