Mescolanzas 'School House Red' 2007

Wine Advocate: From a field blend of varietals probably planted by italian immigrants during the pre-prohibition period, the 2007 mescolanza is an approximate blend of 75% zinfandel and the rest petite sirah, carignan and other grapes. It is a complex red offering up notes of peppered meats, lard, roasted herbs, blackberries, tar and spice box. A fleshy, complex, rhone-styled effort with supple tannins and lots of soul and personality. 91 points
