OLE & OBRIGADO CHARITY GIFT 3-PACK FOR THE T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION (WEB ONLY)
“Olé & Obrigado, an importer of fine wines from Spain and Portugal, will donate 50% of the profits of this charity gift-pack to the T.J. Martell to support its search for cancer cures. The wines included are: Gorvia Blanco Single Vineyard from Monterrei, JC Vizcarra from Ribera del Duero, and Mather Teresina from Terra Alta. Since the production of these wines is very limited and demand for these gift-packs might be higher than what is available, Olé & Obrigado may substitute these wines with others of equal or higher quality.” The Gift 3-Pack contains the following wines: JC Vizcarra 2015 An estate-bottled Tempranillo made by Bodegas Vizcarra in the Ribera del Duero region. JC Vizcarra is a complex and savory red built for lamb and steak. The “JC” in the wine's name are the initials of proprietor and winemaker Juan Carlos Vizcarra. Selected by Wine & Spirits magazine, as one of this year’s best Ribera del Duero wines, JC Vizcarra’s mineral notes, complemented by flavors of cherry and plum, emerge from firm tannins and linger on the bright finish. Mather Teresina Tinto 2015 This limited production wine from Celler Vinos Piñol is made with Garnacha, Cariñena and Morenillo grapes grown in the high elevation region of Terra Alta, located south of Barcelona. With firm tannins and juicy acidity, Mather Teresina is a rich, plush redoffering ripe cherry and plum flavors, with accents of vanilla and spice. A wine with this volume, depth and great length should be enjoyed with rich foods like pheasant, duck, venison, fois gras, slow roasted pork and aged hard cheeses. Gorvia Blanco 2013 Winemaker José Luis Mateo, considered one of the best grape growers in Galicia, is relentless in his commitment to excellence. His passion and dedication to winegrowing in the Monterrei Region shows through in Gorvia Blanco. Made with pure Dona Blanca grapes from a 32-year-old vineyard, this fresh and balanced white wine has beautiful acidity and minerality. The wine is sublime to drink now and will also age nicely, if cellared. Fresh oysters, razor clams and lobster are perfect pairings for this wine, as well as a broad range of flavorful deep-sea fish such as tuna, yellowtail and Chilean sea bass. Any richly flavored soft cheeses are also ideal matches for this wine.
