94 Points - Stephen Tanzer - Vinous - “(like the Pianpolvere Soprana Riserva, this is made from grapes cropped at about 35 hectoliters per hectare): Deep red. Spectacular nose combines redcurrant, plum, camphor, mocha, truffley underbrush and mellow nutty oak. Plush, fine-grained flavors of plum and truffle show uncanny freshness for such a mellow, nutty wine. Finishes with outstanding length and very fine-grained tannins that coat the front teeth. This wine is made only in good years; it's declassified into the Rocche bottling in lesser years or even into the estate's Langhe Rosso.”
Variety: Nebbiolo
Region: Barolo
Vintage: 2004
