89 Points - Luis Gutierrez - The Wine Advocate - “The red wine is produced with Tempranillo from about 30-year-old head-pruned vines on clay and chalk soils in the Ribas de Tereso village in the Labastida area of Rioja Alavesa. Simply called 2013 Sierra de Toloño Tinto, the destined and crushed grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts and the wine matured in used oak barrels for a few months. It has some initial creamy, lactic notes that go away with time in the glass, giving way to some perfumed notes that made me think of carbonic maceration, but there's none of that in the wine. It somehow lacks the zip I associate with the 2013 vintage, it feels very polished, suave, with unnoticeable tannins, velvety and easy to drink.”
Variety: Tempranillo
Region: Rioja
Vintage: 2013
