“Deep medium red. More exotic on the nose than the Chambertin: raspberry, strawberry, dried rose, mocha and brown spices. Wonderfully sweet, layered and lush, offering terrific sappy richness with restraint. Broader and more pliant than the Chambertin-perhaps less precise today-but this, too, has fruit of steel. Very full without being the least bit heavy. Finishes with lovely floral lift, an edge of acidity and lingering sweetness. A more than worthy warm-up for the extraordinary 2005 in the making.”
