“Kollwentz pioneered Cabernet Sauvignon in Austria and has had much success. He now has many imitators, but no equals. In the Pannonian climate of Burgenland, Cabernet Sauvignon ripens to excellent quality. The vines are planted on limestone and loam soil. The yields are kept under 30 hectoliters per hectare, resulting in a rich but elegant wine, which is aged in new oak barrels for 9 months. Striking cassis nose with a delicate vanilla fragrance, reaching optimum drinkability after five to seven years. Around 250 cases made.”
